Movement underneath the surface of the Earth! Believe it or not, the ground you're standing on right now is moving ever so slowly. The Earth is actually made up of many plates known as tectonic plates (not the plates you eat with at dinner, they're basically large slabs of rock!). These plates move in different directions. Sometimes these plates scrape past each other or push against each other. This puts pressure or stress on the rocks and cause vibrations. These vibrations are Earthquakes.
